We all have at least one pair. The shoes that you feel absolutely fabulous in, but feel that maybe they are a tad too much? Like you will be walking down the street and everyone and their mother will be staring at you wondering what you were thinking? They may be too tall or too bright or too ‘out there?’ Well you should probably wear them anyway.
It’s so important to remember that you dress for yourself. Yes it’s best to put your best foot forward but you need to wear things that make you feel great. If you feel great about yourself you will accomplish more and in my experience be more productive. Just because something is a little different doesn’t mean you can’t rock it.
I find myself doing this all the time with more than just shoes. I’ve meticulously applied a bold lip, looked at myself in the mirror and immediately wiped it off. I’ve dawned a fun pair of tights that I love and walked outside to turn right around and walk back in to change into more basic ones instead, feeling they would draw too much attention.
Why? Why do we do this to ourselves? I love that lip color and I adore those tights? So I began to challenge myself. ‘Just wear this to the grocery store and see what happens.” I told myself. So I did- and you know what happened? I bought some groceries and came home. The world didn’t end. My lips didn’t fall off. All was well in the world. And you know what? I felt fabulous!
Wear what you love and feel good about yourself always.
